The boat launch at Innisfil Beach Park opened on May 16 – for Innisfil residents only.

Residents were asked to book a launch time, online, before bringing their boats to the park on Lake Simcoe, where staff were on hand to provide direction and guidance – and a reminder to practice social distancing.

There were plans to open up two other town-owned boat launches, on Isabella Street in Belle Ewart, and Shoreacres Drive in Gilford on May 22, also for use by residents.

But as the COVID-19 situation has continued to evolve, Innisfil has been reviewing the current usage patterns, and has now made the decision to close the Isabella Street boat launch, until further notice.

The launch on Shoreacres Drive will remain open to residents, but only on weekends, from 6:15 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.  Again, launch times must be booked online.

“It is evident that the boat launch at Innisfil Beach Park is a priority location, while our other sites have not seen the same demand,” noted Johnny Keogh, Communications Lead.

“We will continue to make sure the boat launch at Innisfil Beach Park is fully staffed, and we will continue to evaluate the situation and make decisions to ensure that Innisfil residents continue to have the best experience possible.”
