A 26-year-old Newmarket martial arts coach has been charged with sexual assault involving a minor, police say.

Police launched an investigation into the sexual assault of a minor at a martial arts club, according to a York Regional Police news release.

Anthony Paines is charged with sexual assault and sexual interference, police said.

Police have released a photograph of the accused, as he has worked at multiple martial arts clubs in the Greater Toronto Area.

Police are encouraging anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a sexual assault to come forward and report the incident at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7071, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or leave an anonymous tip online at 1800222tips.com.
