3 new COVID cases confirmed in Innisfil today

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has confirmed 17 new cases of COVID-19 in Simcoe County today, and has confirmed the death of a Simcoe Manor resident, which was reported yesterday by Simcoe County. 

A 77-year old woman and resident of the long-term care facility in Beeton died on Oct. 19. She was the seventh resident to contract COVID-19 and die since the start of the outbreak. Simcoe County confirmed there have now been 40 resident cases and 28 staff cases confirmed through testing. 

Among the 17 new COVID cases in Simcoe County, three are Barrie residents. All three are female with one woman between 18 and 34 years old, one between 35 and 44 years old and the third between 45 and 64 years old. The third case is attributed to community transmission and the other two cases are under investigation. 

There are also three new cases each in Innisfil, Bradford West Gwillimbury, and New Tecumseth. 

The Innisfil cases include two women between 18 to 34 years old – one close contact and one community-acquired – and a man between 35 and 44 years old whose case is still under investigation. 

The Bradford cases include a boy under 18 – attributed to close contact – a man between 18 and 34 years old and a man between 45 and 64 years old. The latter two cases are still under investigation. 

The three New Tecumeth cases include two girls under 18 and a woman between 35 and 44 years old. All three cases are attributed to close contact. 

There are two new cases in Oro Medonte, also both close contact related, involving a man between 45 and 64 years old and a woman between 65 and 79 years old. 

The final three cases reported today include a man between 65 and 79 years old from Adjala-Tosorontio, a man between 18 and 34 years old from Essa, and a man between 45 and 64 years old from Ramara. All three cases are attributed to community transmission. This is the first case reported in Ramara since Sept. 8.

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 1,181 cases of COVID-19, with 1,105 of those in Simcoe County. There are 999 cases listed as recovered and 130 active cases. Three people are currently hospitalized The health unit has recorded 47 deaths.

The incidence rate for Simcoe-Muskoka region is 209 cases per 100,000 people.
