New COVID-19 case reported at Nantyr Shores

A new COVID-19 case has been reported at Nantyr Shores Secondary School in Innisfil today.

No classrooms have been closed as a result of this case.

Also new as of Feb. 26, there is a case being reported at Tottenham Public School, adding to one previously reported. No classrooms have been closed.

As of Feb. 26, at the Simcoe County District School Board, there are currently 18 active COVID-19 cases total:

  • One case at Nantyr Shores Secondary School in Innisfil
  • One case at Coldwater Public School/Moonstone Elementary School
  • One case at Lions Oval Public School in Orillia
  • One case and one classroom closure at Georgian Bay District Secondary School in Midland
  • Two cases at Innisdale Secondary School in Barrie
  • One case at East Oro Public School in Oro-Medonte, with one classroom closed
  • One case at Eastview Secondary School in Barrie, with one classroom closed
  • One case at W.H. Day Elementary School in Bradford
  • One case at Bradford District High School
  • Two cases and two classrooms closed at Terry Fox Elementary School (Barrie)
  • Four cases and one classroom closed at Innisfil Central Public School, health unit declared an outbreak on Feb. 16
  • Two cases at Tottenham Public School

At the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board, there are currently eight active COVID-19 cases:

  • St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School in Bradford has one case, with one classroom closure, reported Feb. 24
  • Holy Trinity Catholic High School in Bradford has one case, with one classroom closure, reported on Feb. 24
  • St. Theresa's Catholic High School in Midland has one case, with one classroom closure, reported on Feb. 24
  • Our Lady of Grace Catholic School in Angus has one case, with one classroom closure, reported on Feb. 17
  • St. James Catholic School has one case, with no classroom closures, reported on Feb. 19
  • St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School has one case, with one classroom closure, reported on Feb. 13
  • St. Peter's Catholic Secondary School has one case, with one classroom closure, reported on Feb. 21
  • St. Marie of the Incarnation Catholic School in Bradford has one case, with one classroom closure, reported on Feb. 23

An outbreak has been declared at Innisfil Central Public School.

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is responsible for declaring a COVID-19 outbreak in the region. According to the health unit site, an outbreak is declared at a school when student and/or staff have confirmed COVID-19 cases that can be linked to the educational setting.

The health unit will contact those who are considered to have had high-risk exposure to a known case of COVID-19.
