There are 175 new COVID cases in Ontario today

There have been 2,606 deaths attributed to the virus, with 1,657 of those being residents of long-term care facilities

Ontario Public Health is reporting 175 new COVID-19 cases in the province today. 

That comes on the heels of Saturday's report when 206 new cases were listed. 

Sunday's numbers bring the total case count in Ontario to 33,576. Of those, 28,719 have been listed as resolved. 

There have been 2,606 deaths attributed to the disease, with 1,657 of those being residents of long-term care facilities. 

There are 286 people hospitalized with COVID-19, including 86 patients who are in the intensive care unit (ICU). Fifty-nine of those stricken with the virus are on a ventilator. 

The total number of tests administered is almost 1.75 million in Ontario, including 23,408 on Saturday. There are 15,424 tests that are currently under investigation. 

Among specific age groups, 10,220 cases have been in 40- to 59-year-olds while 9,490 cases have been in 20- to 39-year-olds.

Overall, the number of COVID cases in females is 18,028, while 15,176 males have been confirmed as contracting the coronavirus.  

As of Friday, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit had reported 553 cases of COVID-19 in the region to-date. Of those 452 are listed as recovered and there have been 36 deaths reported. The local health unit does not post updates to its website on the weekends.

There are now 62 active cases of COVID-19 in Simcoe County and three active cases in Muskoka District.
