A third case of COVID-19 at Tecumseth Beeton Elementary School has been reported by the Simcoe County District School Board.

No classrooms have been closed as a result of the new case. The board has not identified whether the individual is a student or staff member.

In a letter to parents and guardians sent out Friday, principal Jennifer Carrick says the school was notified by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) that an individual had tested positive for the virus.

"The SMDHU has investigated and determined that the individual was not in school while infectious and, therefore, has not had any high-risk close contact with any staff or student while at school," wrote Carrick in the letter.

She adds that the health unit has determined that there is not an outbreak at the school, as there is very strong evidence that the individuals who tested positive contracted COVID-19 outside of the school.
