InnisfilToday received the following letter from Brian Bailey sent to Ward 4 Councillor Alex Waters:

Alex,

I have lived on Willard Ave in Alcona for twenty years and am getting very angry with the disruption of our lives due to the constant fireworks in our neighborhood.

I am a shift worker and have two small dogs who are absolutely terrified and tremble with fear all weekend long during the summer months. This past weekend on beautiful summer nights I was forced to huddle in my basement with the blinds closed and the television blasting just to try and control the fear and trembling of our pets.

This has gotten progressively worse over the past few years and I am fed up. The heartbreaking story of the Alcona family who lost a beloved pet due to this nonsense has me fearing that perhaps my pets may suffer a similar fate.

It is time for Innisfil to follow Barrie's lead and embark on an educational campaign, enforce the existing bylaws and I would like to see the sale of these fireworks banned in our Town.

Not only is this a detriment to enjoying our beautiful town during the summer months it is dangerous as well.

Please help solve this problem.

- Brian Bailey, Innisfil
