The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported 281 new COVID-19 cases since Friday.
There are 1,585 active, lab-confirmed cases in the region, most of which are in Simcoe County.
The health unit has reported 3,515 variant cases confirmed to date, with 1,183 of those cases still active.
Since the start of the pandemic, the local health unit has confirmed 10,655 cases of COVID-19 with 8,374 of those cases recovered and 225 cases ending in death.
There are 49 people from Simcoe County and two people from Muskoka hospitalized with COVID-19, which includes eight new hospitalizations since Friday.
To date, 199,570 people in Simcoe-Muskoka region have received their first dose of vaccination against COVID-19, which is about 32 per cent of the region's population. About three per cent of the population has received two doses of vaccine.
The new cases reported in Simcoe County and Muskoka District today include (case transmission is under investigation unless otherwise specified):
- Innisfil (39): Ten youth under 18 years old, five people between 18 and 34 years old, nine people between 35 and 44 years old, 12 people between 45 and 64 years old, and three people between 65 and 79 years old. Ten cases are attributed to community transmission, 11 were linked to close contact, and two were outbreak-related.
- Bradford West Gwillimbury (47): Seven youth under 18 years old, 10 people between 18 and 34 years old, eight people between 35 and 44 years old, 19 people between 45 and 64 years old, two people between 65 and 79 years old, and one person over 79 years old. One case was outbreak-related, seven were community-acquired, and 16 were linked to close contact.
- Collingwood (1): One person between 18 and 34 years old whose case is linked to close contact.
- Wasaga Beach (4): Two people between 18 and 34 years old, one person between 35 and 44 years old, and one person between 65 and 79 years old. Two cases are linked to close contact.
- Clearview (5): Two people between 18 and 34 years old, one person between 35 and 44 years old, and two people between 45 and 64 years old. Two cases are linked to close contact.
- Barrie (84): Nine youth under 18 years old, 30 people between 18 and 34 years old, 15 people between 35 and 44 years old, 26 people between 45 and 64 years old, three people between 65 and 79 years old, and one person over 79 years old. Two cases are outbreak-related, 16 were community-acquired, and 22 are linked to close contact.
- Springwater (4): Two people between 18 and 34 years old, and two people between 45 and 64 years old. Two cases are attributed to community transmission.
- Orillia (6): Two people between 18 and 34 years old, one person between 35 and 44 years old, two people between 45 and 64 years old, and one person between 65 and 79 years old. One case is linked to close contact.
- Severn (2): One person between 35 and 44 years old and one person between 65 and 79 years old. Both cases were linked to close contact.
- Oro-Medonte (1): One person between 35 and 44 years old whose case was community-acquired.
- Ramara (3): One youth under 18 years old, one person between 18 and 34 years old, and one person between 45 and 64 years old. One case was community-acquired.
- Midland (2): One person between 18 and 34 years old, and one person between 45 and 64 years old. One case is listed as community-acquired.
- Tay (1): One person between 65 and 79 years old whose case is linked to close contact.
- Tiny (1): One person between 45 and 64 years old.
- Penetanguishene (1): One person between 18 and 34 years old whose case was outbreak-related.
- Essa (10): Three youth under 18 years old, three people between 18 and 34 years old, three people between 35 and 44 years old, and one person between 45 and 64 years old. Six cases are linked to close contact, and two were community-acquired.
- New Tecumseth (43): Four youth under 18 years old, 19 people between 18 and 34 years old, six people between 35 and 44 years old, 11 people between 45 and 64 years old, and three people between 65 and 79 years old. One case was outbreak-related, 11 cases were community-acquired, and 12 cases were linked to close contact.
- Adjala-Tosorontio (7): One youth under 18 years old, two people between 18 and 34 years old, one person between 35 and 44 years old, two people between 45 and 64 years old, and one person between 65 and 79 years old. Three cases are attributed to community transmission and two are linked to close contact.
- There were 19 cases in Muskoka, including two in Huntsville, six in Bracebridge three in Gravenhurst, and eight in Muskoka Lakes.
