Building on a legacy: Popular Innisfil restaurant set to reopen

'We are aeroponically growing much of the produce you will find on our brand new menu,' explains new owner

With over a decade of memories in Lefroy, the Harbour House Grill at 727 Harbour St. will be reopening for take-out and delivery on April 5 and in-person dining will resume on May 3, 2023.

Ashley Mountford has a wealth of experience in the hospitality industry, and she is thrilled to reopen the Harbour House Grill following renovations as a first-time owner.

“I want to thank Jen and Tom, the previous owners of Harbour House Grill, for their dedication to connecting the community and providing entertainment that was loved and enjoyed by many," Mountford said. "I am honoured to build upon their legacy and am excited to continue providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere that has become synonymous with Harbour House Grill."

In addition to the freshly renovated, accessible space, with an updated take-out window, hungry patrons will appreciate the Harbour House Grill’s commitment to quality. Mountford explained that she added a greenhouse, where "we are aeroponically growing much of the produce you will find on our brand new menu.”

One hundred per cent of the herbs and leafy greens — such as spinach, romaine, kale, arugula, and micro greens — that will be served at the Harbour House Grill will be grown in the greenhouse that houses tower gardens. With 20 mature plants per tower, aeroponic plants are grown without soil; the plants are fed a nutrient-rich mist instead. Committed to sourcing all meat and other vegetables like tomatoes, peppers, and zucchini, from local farms, Mountford and her staff members will cut their carbon footprint while using the freshest ingredients and maintaining nutrients.

The Harbour House Grill will reopen with a longer wine list than before, which will feature vintage and consignment wines and boast eight draughts on tap. As the weather warms, Mountford looks forward to offering live music on Friday and Saturday nights.

Residents since 2021, Mountford explained that “We chose Innisfil as our home because it offers a welcoming community feel and a great location by the water for our family. The small-town vibe and friendly people also drew us in as we were looking for a safe and supportive environment to raise our family in. We feel lucky to call Innisfil our home where we can enjoy the benefits of a waterfront community while surrounded by friendly neighbours.”

With plenty of parking, the family-friendly restaurant offers a kids’ menu, and Mountford looks forward to meeting members of the community. With gluten-free and vegetarian options and a menu that will change seasonally, Mountford invites readers to make reservations for Harbour House Grill’s special Easter brunch, which will be available for two seatings on April 9, 2023, at 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. by emailing [email protected].
