Enbridge Gas, Action First Aid team up to support Innisfil legion

'We feel it is an honour and a privilege to support the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 547 of Innisfil in partnership with Enbridge Gas,' said Action First Aid vice president

A place where people can gather and share stories is integral to maintaining a sense of community and good mental health. It’s all the better if such a place provides life-saving technology, should the need ever arise.

Representatives from Enbridge Gas and Action First Aid joined forces to donate a wall-mounted SaveStation, first-aid classes, and a 60-inch television set (which will assist with training) to Branch 547 of the Royal Canadian Legion in Belle Ewart on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023.

“The Legion provides a safe and secure environment for veterans and first responders to come together and share their stories to ensure their well-being," said Coun. Grace Constantine. "It also serves as an astonishing place where the community comes together and plays darts and has weekly camaraderie. The staff are wonderful people. They volunteer their time and ensure that all those who come through the door are welcome."

The event was spearheaded by Curtis Fink, who values the legion and the community at large.

“A community offers strength and support. It creates a deeper sense of belonging. It fosters growth, creativity and innovation. A community makes life better—and that’s what I believe in,” Fink said.

Once Fink realized that the legion required assistance, he employed all of the resources available to him as a safety advisor at Enbridge Gas.

“Enbridge Fueling Futures is a structured charity program that allows every employee to use their skills and personality to help them achieve the greatest impact in serving their community,” he explained.

Vice President of Action First Aid, Roger Hennig, agreed that Branch 547 of the Royal Canadian Legion required assistance.

“We feel it is an honour and a privilege to support the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 547 of Innisfil in partnership with Enbridge Gas. People need places where they can get together and meet face-to-face, and interact positively with others from their community, and the local legion can be that place," he said. "We are proud to contribute some First Aid/CPR and AED training and supplies towards making this community a safer place to live, work and play.”

Fink said the donations will benefit everyone who frequents the Royal Canadian Legion, including Gulf War veteran and the President of Branch 547, Denis Mainville, who continually works towards serving veterans, seniors, and the youth of Innisfil.

“We’re energizing communities through the volunteerism and generosity of our employees, and through strategic donations and sponsorships that strengthen the safety, vibrancy and sustainability of where we live,” explained Fink.
