Motorists planning to use Killarney Beach Road this weekend, be warned.

There will be a full closure of Killarney Beach Road between 20 Sideroad and Corner Avenue, from 9 p.m. on Friday, June 26 to 5 a.m. on Monday, June 29, as Metrolinx carries out major track repairs.

It’s part of a regular program of Crossing Rehabilitation, along GO Transit’s Barrie rail corridor.

The work will include the removal and replacement of road crossing panels along Killarney Beach Road, using specialized rail equipment to carry out the repairs.

Residents of Lefroy are being warned that there will be a certain amount of noise and vibration associated with the work. Metrolinx is promising that lights will be directed away from neighbouring homes “when possible.”

“We understand overnight construction can be disruptive, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause,” Metrolinx has stated, further explaining, “As we are completing this work in an active rail corridor, it can only be completed safely outside of regular train operating hours when there is minimal train activity.”

Detour signs are in place.
