There is still time for residents to register their homes in the annual Light It Up Innisfil festive house decorating contest.
For a $10 entry fee, residents will compete against their neighbours for the best festively decorated house, for a chance at winning some exciting prizes donated by local businesses. Each entrant will also receive a free goodie bag.
All proceeds from entries will be split between charities, Christmas 4 Kids and the Innisfil Food Bank.
Last year, 139 homes took part in the contest, organized by resident volunteer Jennifer Richardson, which brought in over $2,500 for the local charities.
So far there are 50 homes entered and Richardson is hoping to get just as many entries as last year, if not more. She has been spreading the word online and through typed letter, dropping them off at homes that are already decorated nicely for the holidays.
Once all entries are received, the list of homes will be made available on a digital map to guide residents through the town's best-decorated homes.
Judging will take place between Dec. 10 and 17. Judges will include ward councillors, Mayor Lynn Dollin, MP John Brassard, MPP Andrea Khanjin and the Rotary Club of Innisfil, and an additional 'Mystery Judge' which will be announced later this week.
Innisfil residents will be able to vote online for their favourites as well, including Best Inflatable Display, Best Light Display, and Most Creative Display.
An early-bird draw for all 50 entrants will take place live on the event Facebook page this Wednesday, Dec. 1, at 6 p.m. where one lucky resident will win a prize from business sponsor, Sparkle the Yard.
Businesses interested in donating prizes can fill out the form here.
Residents interested in entering their homes in the contest can sign up online here by Dec. 10.
