A letter from MP John Brassard on the launch of InnisfilToday.ca

I am happy to see the launch of InnisfilToday.ca, and I would like to congratulate the Village Media team on their latest Simcoe County news site.

In less than four years since Barrie Today went live, coverage has expanded to include six locations across Simcoe County – what a great success story.  Each day reporters share important and entertaining news stories with thousands of readers in our cities and towns. Thank you for your commitment to our communities.

As of today, this new site will certainly be a significant resource for residents of Innisfil – a place to turn for the latest news and events and to learn a little more about neighbours and community groups.

Local media plays a vital role as watchdogs that hold our civic institutions accountable and, they also link citizens to each other and their communities. The importance of local media has never been more apparent than during the COVID-19 crisis as readers search for reliable, accurate and timely information.

I wish Miriam King and Natasha Philpott all the best with InnisfilToday.ca.  I am looking forward to speaking with them about federal issues and, of course, meeting up at many local events soon.

Welcome to the community, InnisfilToday.ca!
