PAIGE’S PASSION MUSIC FESTIVAL

On April 15, Paige’s Passion Music Festival held its seventh annual fundraiser in support of Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) and the RVH Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre.

The Paige Doucette Foundation was thrilled to be back hosting this music festival in person in honour of Paige Doucette. The COVID pause allowed the founder, Katherine Chabot, to change up the format from an all-day drop-in music festival to this year’s sold-out evening gala event with the help of co-producers Vanz and Karen Zinn of Multi Tech Audio Visual Inc.

This year’s hybrid fundraiser included a live event at Lion’s Gate Banquet Centre and a four-hour livestream viewed by patients at RVH, community organizations and a virtual home audience. This well-received event has had more than 1,300 views online and can still be watched on YouTube at youtu.be/sE06aNa9Ugw.

With the generosity of our community, we were able to present a cheque of $16,555.28 to RVH Foundation on May 11.

“I’m inspired by the support this event has garnered in honour of Paige,” said Pamela Ross, CEO, RVH Foundation. “Thank you to everyone who played a part in the success of Paige’s Passion. It is because of you that her legacy will live on through all those who receive world-class care at the Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre at RVH.”

“It is incredible what can be accomplished when community comes together,” said Kat Chabot, founder of Paige’s Passion Music Festival. “It is so important to create opportunities for musicians to share their talents and passion, as music keeps a community connected in creative ways and can lead to impactful acts of charitable giving. By supporting local music, we were able to support local patients and exceeded our $15,000 donation goal, and I am forever grateful.”

The event hosted by Charlie from Kool FM also included a charitable community achievement recognition presentation by Mayor Alex Nuttall to Dylan Lock, the Straits and Karen and Vanz Zinn of Multi Tech Audio Visual for their significant charitable contributions during the pandemic.

A new online contest was added to this year’s event, allowing artists to submit a video for a chance to play at the 2023 event. The community voted for their favourite original and cover song. Congratulations to the Escape and All My Life bands.

Catch the replay of all the live performances online, including Cardinal Street, Dylan Lock, Vital Organs, the Straits, creators of Barrie’s Live Music Show.
