ENVIRONMENT CANADA
****************************
Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for:

  • Innisfil - New Tecumseth - Angus
  • Orangeville - Grand Valley - Southern Dufferin County
  • Shelburne - Mansfield - Northern Dufferin County

Risk of severe thunderstorms with damaging wind gusts late this afternoon and early this evening.

Thunderstorms from Michigan will reach western portions of southern Ontario late this afternoon and then move rapidly eastward across the regions.

Hazards: Wind gusts of 90 km/h. Frequent cloud-to-ground lightning. Brief poor visibilities and ponding of water on roads in torrential downpours.

Timing: Late this afternoon and early this evening.

Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Hail and locally heavy rain are also possible. Be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected] or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
