Sleeping in vehicle results in impaired driving charges: Police

On Saturday, June 12, 2021, the South Simcoe Police Service was called regarding a man sleeping in a vehicle after it pulled into a gas station parking lot on County Road 89 in Innisfil.

Upon arrival, witnesses told police that the vehicle had been driving erratically prior to stopping.

As officers approached the vehicle, the driver exited and spoke to police. He was subsequently cleared by paramedics and arrested for impaired operation.

As a result of the investigation, 48-year-old Barry Pilozo was charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired - excess blood alcohol, driving while under suspension, open liquor, and drive without insurance.

His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.
