Snow Squall Warning in effect for:
- Innisfil - New Tecumseth - Angus
Snow squalls are expected. Under the snow squall bands, visibilities will be significantly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow, and snow will quickly accumulate. Snow squalls expected today and tonight.
Hazards: Locally heavy snowfall with accumulations of 20 to 30 cm. Peak snowfall rates of 2 to 4 cm per hour. Strong northwesterly winds gusting up to 60 km/h today. Very poor to nil visibility at times in heavy snow and blowing snow.
Timing: Today through tonight.
Discussion: Snow squalls from Georgian Bay will extend well inland at times to the region today through tonight. Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.
