On Nov. 20, the South Simcoe Arts Council held the grand opening of its Christmas Market: An Artisan Shopping Experience. Located at 41 Victoria St. E., Alliston, the SSAC’s retail store features work by the Council’s member artists including handmade Christmas ornaments, cards, and decorations.

Patrons will also find unique gifts for friends and family including beautiful paintings, pottery, photography, books, carvings and so much more.

“This is the 5th year running our Christmas Market in this location,” remarked Executive Director, Suu Taylor. “Prior to moving to 41 Victoria East, the SSAC held pop-up markets during the Christmas season in various locations. Our permanent home at FortyOne: Local Art Market provides the community with a year-round opportunity to Shop Local, supporting local artists and the programs provided by SSAC throughout the year for the public.”

Founded in 1994, the South Simcoe Arts Council is a not-for-profit organization that fosters the cultural enrichment of South Simcoe by providing educational programs and exhibitions for the community and members.

Their retail store, FortyOne: Local Art Market, showcases hand-crafted art created by member artists throughout South Simcoe. The store is open Tuesdays to Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
