NEWS RELEASE
TOWN OF INNISFIL
*************************
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) has placed the following beaches in Innisfil under a new swim advisory:

  • 9th Line Park Beach (2407 Leonard Street)
  • Beach 1 at Innisfil Beach Park (676 Innisfil Beach Road)

The following beaches remain under a swim advisory:

  • Beaches 2, 3, 4 and 5 at Innisfil Beach Park (676 Innisfil Beach Road)

The swim advisory at 10th Line / Leonard’s Beach (2715 Purvis Street) has been lifted following resampling by SMDHU.

An advisory is a warning to swimmers, but it is not a beach closure. During an advisory, the beach is posted with warning signs when the water contains levels of bacteria that indicate there may be an increased risk of developing minor skin, eye, ear, nose or throat infections or stomach illness. You may still choose to swim during an advisory, but it may be best to avoid swallowing the water or dunking your head underwater.

Testing is done at least weekly by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, and the results are posted on their website: simcoemuskokahealth.org/Topics/SafeWater/BeachWater/BeachPostings
