Two separate incidents result in impaired driving charges

TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH, ADJALA-TOSORONTIO AND ESSA TOWNSHIPS - Members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to two separate traffic complaints resulting in arrests for impaired operation.

On June 18, 2021 at approximately 2:42 p.m., police were called to the LCBO located at 55 Queen St. S. in Tottenham, New Tecumseth for a possible theft of a vehicle.

Further information led police into an impaired driving investigation.

As a result of the investigation, 69-year-old Arthur Tateishi of New Tecumseth has been charged with:
    •    Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
    •    Operation while impaired - alcohol or drugs
    •    Driving while under suspension

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford on July 8, 2021.

On June 19, 2021 at approximately 12:07 a.m. police were called to a traffic complaint, advising of a vehicle in a ditch on the 5th Line of Essa Township.

As a result of the investigation, 40-year-old Dinah Mitchell of Innisfil, has been charged with:
    •    Operation while impaired - alcohol or drugs

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford on July 8, 2021.

Police are thanking the public for acting quickly and assisting with making our roads safer.
