STEVENSON MEMORIAL HOSPITAL FOUNDATION

The Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation (SMHF) wrapped up their four-month 50/50 lottery series and is excited to announce that the February winner is Margaret Murray (ticket # D- 2412451) – taking home the winner’s jackpot of $6,885. Margaret not only got great news the morning of Feb. 26 about being the 50/50 winner, she also learned that morning that her granddaughter gave birth to a healthy baby boy at Stevenson Memorial Hospital (SMH) at 6:14 a.m. and she couldn’t be more elated about all the great news!
The winning ticket number was posted on the SMHF website and social media channels. SMHF launched the first lottery in November 2020 and this program has been a great way to engage the community. Draw winners received a total of $19,845 in cash prizes over the four months and some were ecstatic about extra funds to put towards their children’s education. One winner even donated most of his winnings back to the SMHF!
The net revenues from this series will support the redevelopment of SMH, part of the Because of you, we can Capital Campaign. This is the largest and most significant campaign in the Foundation’s history. The existing hospital was built in 1964 to serve 7,000 people a year in the Emergency Department. The population that Stevenson Memorial Hospital serves continues to grow at a rapid rate. The hospital now serves close to 40,000 people a year through the Emergency Department, and the need for the community’s support could not be more critical.
“We are grateful for the support that we have received from the community during the 50/50 lottery series. It is going to take the entire community to make redevelopment a reality,” says Melody McLean, interim executive director, SMHF.
Redevelopment donations will help realize SMH’s vision of revitalizing the Emergency Department, refreshing the outpatient rooms, birthing suites and laboratory, doubling the square footage of the Hospital and tripling the amount of parking space.
