You are what you eat ... taken to a whole new level!

Where you sit, who you sit with, what you are seen partaking of ... it all comes at a price, says columnist

What we eat impacts our moods and health! Cheryl Clark/InnisfilToday

Have you ever walked into a restaurant, looked at the menu, and decided there is nothing there you really like or want? So, you get up, leave and go where there is something you do want!

Have you ever ordered at a restaurant, and had the wait staff bring you something completely different? I am hoping none of us have had this experience but if you had this happen to you, you would most likely say something and ask for the order to be changed! (Yes, I am willing to admit a few of you would just eat it and not say a word and hope for the best!)

Have you ever been invited to a friend’s home for a meal and they graciously ask you if you have any allergies? Or they share with you what they will be serving that evening and ask if that is okay with you?

Who picks up the fork? Who chooses what goes on the fork? Who places the fork in your mouth?

I am going to take this one step further – what we eat impacts our moods, and health. We all know it.

Now…

What we partake in – impacts us. It impacts us personally and professionally.

What you are seen taking part in reflects on your livelihood. Read that again: What you are seen engaging in, partaking in, eating reflects on your business and income. (Let alone your personal energy and moods.)

Why is it we stay sitting at tables that are not serving what we want?

Why is it we settle for less than what we ordered or hoped to partake in?

What is it we take in things against our core (allergies) and or say yes to things we may not really want?

Why is it WE pick up the fork, portion size and put it in?

Why is it we are not cooking more at our own tables and inviting people to dine with us?

We see it all the time on social media – the negative, the petty, the arguments. We sit at that table and partake when we engage. People see us at that table feeding it and feeding ourselves even if we do not like the meal! It is not your table – you and I will have limited control on what is being served.

The point of this article – be attentive to where you sit, who you sit with, what you are seen partaking of. It all comes at a price!

You pay for what you eat, you pay for the effect it has on you, your body and mind, and your business may pay for what it is seen engaging in. Something to be attentive too!

You are your brand – I’ll save that for another time….
