October 16, 1961 – April 17, 2023

It is with a sad heart we announce the passing of Gregory C. McGrath.

Greg was a kind, generous, very stubborn, caring and a very unique man. He took pride in everything he did and passed that on to everyone he met. Attending high school in Orillia, while working at Square Boy Pizza, Greg went on to various other jobs which included Square Boy Pizza in Scarborough, managing a Mike’s Mart in Elmvale, owner operator of a Pizza and Sub in Mactier, worked at several gas bars, the Chatham and South Barrie Walmart’s, and various other jobs. Greg was a great believer in customer service and gave his all when it came to any job he had.

Greg fought from the first day he was not himself to the very end. He will be missed very much by his wife Mary (nee Salmers), brothers Michael, John (predeceased), Ed; sisters Mary, Evelyn and Anne (predeceased), three stepchildren - Shawn, Andrea (Brian) and Philip (Becky); three grandsons, Dylan, Kyrie, and Kaden, and many nieces and nephews. Greg loved his family and had a lot of fun teasing those he worked with. His niece Danyal Lazzaro is an angel here on earth. She was a daughter he never had. Danyal always got Greg back on track as he helped her too. They knew what each other needed.

There aren't enough words to express our gratitude for the wonderful care Greg received at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie and St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto. The compassion and care were outstanding. Thanks to the so many doctors and nurses that took great care of Greg. Special thanks to Dr. McConvey, Dr. Spears, Dr. Woolhall, Dr. Dixon, Dr. Ward-Able and Dr. Jacky Lai. With their expertise they helped us understand what Greg was going through and managed to keep him comfortable.

A Celebration of Life for Greg will be held at St. James United Church, 2230 Victoria Street West, Stroud on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. James United Church or to Cancer Research.
