Toronto police investigating shooting death of 17-year-old boy

TORONTO — Police are investigating the death of a 17-year-old boy in a shooting in east Toronto.

Toronto police say officers responded to reports of a shooting in or near a building shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday. 

They say an unconscious boy was found with multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to hospital, where he died. 

Police have identified the victim as 17-year-old Zaybion Lawrence of Toronto.

Police did not name any suspects.

The force's homicide unit has taken over the investigation.
