16-year-old charged with assault with a weapon in Bradford

Witnesses reported to police that the accused had chased them wielding a knife

On Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at approximately 7:30 p.m., South Simcoe Police responded to a disturbance call in the area of the old community centre on Simcoe Street in Bradford.

Several youths in the area reported that a male had chased them off the soccer field wielding a knife. The youths described the male and showed officers the area he was last traveling towards. Police searched the area and located the described male on Centre Street in Bradford.

The male was arrested for assault with a weapon.

A knife was recovered from the accused male. Police conducted interviews of the witnesses. The accused is a 16-year-old Bradford youth who can not be named according to the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The accused was charged with four counts of uttering death threats. The accused was later released with several conditions and will appear in Provincial Court in June, 2021.
