25-year-old New Tecumseth man charged with drug possession

TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH, ADJALA-TOSORONTIO & ESSA TOWNSHIPS – Members of the Nottawasaga Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid charges against a New Tecumseth resident in relation to an ongoing drug investigation.  

On Tuesday, June 2, 2020, members of the Nottawasaga CSCU executed a search warrant at a residence in New Tecumseth resulting in an arrest and seizure of drugs.  

A 25-year-old male from New Tecumseth has been charged with: 

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine, contrary to s.4(1) of the Control Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA);  
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Opioid (other than heroin), contrary to s.4(1) CDSA;  
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin), contrary to s.5(2) CDSA; 
  • Traffic in Schedule I substance- Cocaine, contrary to s. 5(1) CDSA; and 
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, contrary to s.355(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC)    

The name of the accused and scheduled court date are being withheld to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
