Baseball game at sports complex turns to fisticuffs

'I can tell you both males were conscious (and) no charges were laid,' Huronia West OPP spokesperson says regarding call to Barrie Community Sports Complex last night

No charges have been laid following a brawl at a local baseball game Tuesday night.

Huronia West OPP officers responded to a call about a fight at the Barrie Community Sports Complex, located in Midhurst at 2100 Nursery Rd., shortly after 9 p.m. on June 28.

Detachment spokesperson Const. Liz Newton told BarrieToday that officers arrived around 9:13 p.m. in regards to a “disturb the peace call” at the 118-acre complex, a City of Barrie-owned and -operated facility which features several baseball diamonds and fields for soccer and rugby.

“There was a consensual fight between two males, not two baseball teams,” Newton said.

She had no information as to any injuries suffered as a result of the incident.

“I can tell you both males were conscious (and) no charges were laid," Newton said.
