Callers report vehicle striking several Gilford mailboxes

Everett man faces charges of driving while impaired by drugs

INNISFIL, ON - On Wednesday, June 17, 2020, around 7 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to a report of a possible impaired driver who had been involved in a minor collision in the area of Gilford Road and Beach Road in Gilford. Callers reported a vehicle had struck several mailboxes and wound up stopped on the wrong side of the road where the driver appeared to be passed out. Upon arrival, police arrested the driver for impaired driving.

27-year-old William Marsh of Everett was charged with Operation While Impaired by Drug and Dangerous Operation. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days. He was released from custody with a future court date.  There were no injuries as a result of the collision.

Thank you to the citizens who called us about these incidents. We are very fortunate the above occurrences did not end in tragedy.

On Wednesday, June 17, 2020, South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to 81 calls for service.
