Collision leads to impaired charges for Innisfil driver

On Saturday, Nov. 28, 2020 at 1:38 a.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to a report of a collision on the 20th Sideroad south of Innisfil Beach Road in Innisfil. Police attended the scene and located a Cadillac SUV with significant damage but no one in the immediate vicinity. Other officers driving eastbound on Innisfil Beach Road observed a woman walking westbound on the shoulder. When police spoke to the woman they detected an odour of alcohol and she was placed under arrest.

As a result of the investigation, 28-year-old Jessica Monforton of Innisfil was charged with operation while impaired, over 80, dangerous operation, and obstruct peace officer. Her licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle impounded for seven days. She was released with a future court date.

Always plan ahead by having a designated driver, staying overnight, or taking a cab or public transportation. There is never an excuse for impaired driving.
