On Tuesday, June 2, 2020 around 7:30 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to a driving complaint near Webster Boulevard and 7th Line in Innisfil.

Police attempted to pull over the vehicle in question but it failed to stop and accelerated at a high rate of speed through a school zone and then a crowded neighbourhood.

Officers did not pursue the vehicle but witnesses guided police to the location where the vehicle was abandoned and a suspect was seen fleeing into a wooded area. K9 attended, conducted a track and located the suspect. He was arrested without incident.

A 16-year-old Innisfil youth was charged with several offences including dangerous operation, race a motor vehicle and flight from police.

The accused cannot be identified due to provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
