Provincial police have laid charges following a multi-jurisdictional investigation into alcohol thefts at LCBO outlets in the Nottawasaga and Dufferin detachment areas.

Investigators have estimated the financial loss at more than $70,000 following 144 LCBO thefts.

Nottawasaga OPP covers Essa Township, New Tecumseth, and Adjala-Tosorontio Township.

The Nottawasaga OPP community street crime unit teamed up with Dufferin OPP to complete a multi-jurisdiction theft investigation in collaboration with the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) Resource Protection Unit.

On Sept. 27, 2022, the Nottawasaga, Dufferin and Caledon street crime units executed a search warrant at a Mississauga address. During the search, police say evidence was located in relation to the theft occurrences.

As a result the accused was arrested with 10 outstanding warrants for arrest in relation to LCBO thefts.

Matthew Doucette, 39, has been charged with eight counts of theft under $5,000 and four counts of breach of probation.

The accused was held pending a bail hearing.
