21-year-old Tania Pardazi Moghaddam was identified as the victim of a skydiving fatality in August.

South Simcoe police has issued a renewed appeal for information following the death of a Toronto-area woman in a skydiving accident in Innisfil last month.

Police have confirmed Tania Pardazi Moghaddam, 21, of Richmond Hill, was killed in the incident. Her family has released a photo of Tania to assist in this public appeal for information.

On Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022, at approximately 5:40 p.m, the South Simcoe police, Innisfil firefighters and Simcoe County paramedics responded to a skydiving incident in the area of 10 Sideroad and Line 4.

Police say Pardazi Moghaddam was critically injured after jumping from a plane operating out of a local skydiving club. She was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

According to a statement from Skydive Toronto on Aug. 29, the skydiver had released a quickly rotating parachute at a low altitude without the time/altitude required for the reserve parachute to inflate.

"The jumper was a welcomed recent addition to the skydiving community and will be missed amongst the student's new friends and fellow jumpers of Skydive Toronto Inc.," the statement says. "The team at Skydive Toronto Inc. has been profoundly affected by this accident as they have refined their student training program for over 50 years."

The investigation into Pardazi Moghaddam's death is ongoing in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner.

Investigators are appealing to anyone with information or video that can assist in the investigation to contact Det.-Const. Dan Raymond at 705-436-2141, extension 1027, [email protected] or Crime Stoppers.

The victim was a student at the University of Toronto, studying philosophy, and had a TikTok account under the handle philosatea, with nearly 100,000 followers.  The last TikTok video posted on her account was on Aug. 22 where she talks to the camera about Tetris and skydiving. In the comments section of the video are now dozens of messages of condolences from friends, families and followers.
