South Simcoe police laid two alcohol-related charges and issued a licence suspension against drivers Thursday.
At about 7:40 p.m., police responded to a two-vehicle collision at St. John’s and Innisfil Beach roads in Innisfil. A 39-year-old Innisfil resident was charged with operation while impaired, dangerous operation, obstructing a peace officer and failing to stop after an accident. A 46-year-old Barrie resident was also charged with obstructing a peace officer.
The same day, South Simcoe Police Service officers were conducting RIDE checks with Nottawasaga OPP and Aurora OPP officers near highways 400 and 88 in Bradford West Gwillimbury. A 35-year-old Bradford man was charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired (excess blood-alcohol).
At about 6:40 p.m., a South Simcoe police officer clocked a driver going 114 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on County Road 27 in Bradford West Gwillimbury. During a traffic stop, the officer detected an odour of alcohol. A 51-year-old man from Bolton was issued a three-day licence suspension and a speeding ticket.
