*************************
Aleesha Gostkowski grew up in Innisfil and has spent most of her adult life in Simcoe County as well. She currently resides in Cookstown with her partner Evan and their lovely puppy Fernie, who they love to take for walks around the neighbourhood.

Aleesha is a graduate student and community advocate who is standing with Jagmeet Singh and the NDP team to build a future we can all look forward to. She pledges to do everything she can to make sure Canada gets a fair COVID-19 recovery that benefits us all while taking a bold approach to climate change that creates well-paid green jobs.

Aleesha is committed to fighting for action on the issues that matter to people in Barrie–Innisfil: expanding access to affordable housing, getting profit out of long-term, supporting local agriculture, reducing the cost of the medications people rely on, tackling the climate emergency, forgiving student debt, and much more.

As an Innisfil resident and an openly bisexual woman, Aleesha is a vocal champion of equality and inclusivity in our community. She believes that Barrie–Innisfil should be welcoming to all people, regardless or race, ethnicity, sexuality, or gender identity. She was a key organizer of the Black Lives Matter rallies in Innisfil and Barrie during the summer of 2020.

Aleesha is currently completing a master’s degree in Social Justice Studies at Lakehead University. Previously, she completed two undergraduate degrees in Political Science and Criminology at Lakehead University, Orillia. She is ready to head to Ottawa and start working hard for you, helping to build a future that is more affordable, equal, hopeful, and secure.
