NEWS RELEASE
INNISFIL IDEALAB & LIBRARY
***********************
Effective today, all branches of the Innisfil ideaLAB & Library will accept returns of all materials, including books, movies and more. In order to continue to contain the spread of COVID-19, branches will remain closed to the public at this time, while staff are on site to check-in materials as they are returned. This work represents the first important steps the Library is taking to safely and steadily re-open to the public. More services will be available to residents in the coming weeks.

"Everything we have done and will continue to do will be in close consultation with the best practices set out by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit so that we continue to keep our community and staff safe,” says Susan Baues, Acting CEO of the Innisfil ideaLAB & Library. "We have put new measures in place to accept returns, including making sure materials are quarantined for 72 hours and that we have a dedicated space available to hold materials during this period."

Stage 1 – Drop boxes reopen

Effective immediately, drop boxes are now open. In addition:

  • No fines will be incurred and there is no pressure to return items
  • All materials will be quarantined for 72 hours before being checked in
  • No material donations can be accepted

In the coming weeks the Innisfil ideaLAB & Library will announce details of curbside pick-up options for users to check out books, movies and other materials. Users planning on taking advantage of this service, who are in possession of materials to be returned, are encouraged to simply wait until the curb-side service is available and return items on the first scheduled pick-up. More details to follow.

“We will approach reopening slowly and intentionally, ensuring that programs, services, and facilities protect the health and safety of our community and staff,” said Baues. “We encourage users to continue to take advantage of our online services and Digital Library, our virtual programming and live events. We thank you for your patience and understanding and can’t wait to see you everyone in the community again.”
