Health unit confirms 2 new COVID-19 cases in Innisfil

There were 12 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Simcoe-Muskoka today.

The new cases have been confirmed by Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit since the last update on Friday.

Among the cases reported today are  a woman in her 70s from Wasaga Beach who acquired the virus through community transmission, two women from Barrie, one in her 30s and one in her 40s. The first is a close contact case and the second is under investigation.

There’s also a new case out of Springwater, a man in his 40s, whose case is linked to community transmission.

There are also two new cases out of Bradford West-Gwillimbury, both women in their 50s and both community acquired cases.

Another two cases have been reported out of Innisfil, a woman in her 30s and a man in his 40s. Her case is under investigation and his case is community-acquired.

New Tecumseth has two new community-acquired cases, a man and a woman in their 30s.

The final cases reported today include a man in his 20s from Adjala-Tosorontio and a Huntsville woman in her 70s, both community-acquired. There hasn’t been a case reported in Huntsville since May 5.

The health unit has reported 498 cases of COVID-19 in the region to-date, including 418 recoveries and 36 deaths. There are seven people hospitalized in the region with COVID-19.

The case breakdown by municipality, according to the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, is as follows:

  • Barrie (159 total cases, 135 recoveries, 14 deaths)
  • Bradford West Gwillimbury (103 total cases, 87 recoveries, 12 deaths)
  • New Tecumseth (53 total cases, 43 recoveries, two in hospital, one death)
  • Innisfil (40 total cases, 33 recoveries, two in hospital)
  • Orillia (17 total cases, 14 recoveries, two deaths, one in hospital)
  • Collingwood (15 total cases, all recovered)
  • Wasaga Beach (14 total cases, 12 recoveries, one death)
  • Clearview (seven total cases, six recoveries, one death)
  • Springwater (10 total cases, seven recoveries, one death)
  • Midland (six total cases, all recovered)
  • Oro-Medonte (six total cases, three recoveries, two deaths)
  • Adjala-Tosorontio (eight total cases, seven recoveries)
  • Essa (14 total cases, 11 recoveries, one death)
  • Ramara (seven total cases, all recovered)
  • Tiny (three total cases, all recovered)
  • Tay (five total cases, all recovered)
  • Penetanguishene (five total cases, three recovered)
  • Severn (six total cases, three recovered)
