INNISFIL – Non-profits in Innisfil can now apply for a much-needed financial boost in the wake of COVID-19. The Innisfil Community Foundation (ICF) announced today that it is granting up to $50,000 to local organizations affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Innisfil Community Foundation is here to support organizations doing important work throughout our community,” stated Sandra Rizzardo, Chair of the Innisfil Community Foundation Board of Directors. “We are here to help fund immediate needs today, and we’ll continue to support our community as new needs emerge in the coming weeks and months.”

Agencies throughout Innisfil are dealing with rising pressures while they help people through the COVID-19 crisis. COVID-19 relief grants will provide funds to impacted organizations with a focus on poverty, food security, housing, social isolation, and health.

This is the first round of grants from the newly-formed foundation. The initial grants, scheduled to launch this spring, were put on hold to address the emerging need of COVID-19 relief.

“Our community is faced with a challenge that is simply unparalleled,” Rizzardo said. “The only logical choice was to pivot and support our community through these unprecedented times.”

Non-profits can apply for COVID-19 relief grants at www.getinvolvedinnisfil.ca/grants. As a public foundation, ICF is required to grant to registered charities or qualified donees due to Canada Revenue Agency guidelines. Interested organizations without registered charitable status are encouraged to apply as part of a partnership with a registered charity, or they can reach out to ICF at [email protected] for more information.

For those who want to support their neighbours, but are not sure how to help during this time of physical distancing, ICF has established a COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund which has raised over $2,700 in additional support for the community to date.
