Public Health Ontario has confirmed 293 new cases of COVID-19 in the province today.
The province has also confirmed three new deaths, including two people over 80 years old and one person between 60 and 79 years old.
Since Monday, the province has reported between 250 and 315 new COVID cases each day.
Of the 293 cases reported today, 76 per cent (224 cases) are attributed to four of the province's 34 health units. According to a breakdown provided by Public Health Ontario, 85 cases came from Toronto Public Health, 63 from Peel, 39 from Ottawa, and 37 from York Region.
There were 169 cases reported in people aged 20 to 39 years old, and another 66 cases in people aged 40 to 59 years old.
Public Health Ontario has confirmed 21 new school-related cases today, including five students and four staff cases (12 cases are not identified). There are now 62 school-related cases spread across 51 schools in Ontario.
To-date, the province has reported 45,676 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19, and has noted 40,424 of those cases are now recovered and 2,825 have ended in death.
There are 2,427 active cases of COVID-19 in Ontario, including 53 people who are hospitalized with the coronavirus. There are 21 COVID patients in intensive care and 12 patients on ventilators.
The province has confirmed there have been 35,134 tests processed since yesterday's update, and the province has now completed more than 3.4 million tests since January.
The average incidence rate for COVID-19 in Ontario is 307 cases per 100,000 people.
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 778 coronavirus cases in the region to date, with 736 of the cases in Simcoe County. Of all the cases in Simcoe-Muskoka, 680 are listed as recovered and 37 people have died. One person from New Tecumseth and one person from Bradford West Gwillimbury is in hospital.
The health unit reports there are 55 unrecovered cases in Simcoe County, including 42 in Barrie, five in Bradford, one in New Tecumseth, four in Innisfil, one in Springwater, and two in Orillia. There are six unrecovered cases in Muskoka District.
