Ontario Public Health has confirmed another 365 new cases of COVID-19 today, and one new death.
A person over the age of 80 has died after contracting COVID-19. There have now been 1,933 deaths of people over 80 with COVID-19, which is about 31.2 per cent of all cases reported in that age group.
Of the 365 new cases reported today, 253 cases (69 per cent) are individuals under the age of 40.
According to a breakdown of today's cases by Public Health Ontario, 113 of today's new cases are from Toronto, and 108 are from Peel. Though Ottawa has been a hotspot over the past few days, it reported 14 new cases for today's report, compared to 55 new cases yesterday. York Region reported 38 of today's 365 cases.
To date, the province has reported 46,849 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19, of which 40,968 cases are now considered recovered. Ontario Health has also reported 2,827 lab-confirmed COVID cases have ended in death (six per cent of all cases).
There are currently 3,054 active, lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the province, including at least 63 people who are hospitalized with the coronavirus. There are 23 COVID patients in intensive care and 10 on ventilators.
Ontario labs reported processing 40,127 tests since last report, the highest number of tests processed in a single day so far.
The province's school-related case numbers have not been updated since Friday.
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 803 cases of COVID-19, with 685 of those now listed as recovered. There are two people hospitalized in Simcoe County with COVID-19 (one from Barrie and one from Bradford). Thirty-eight people have died.
The health unit indicates there are 73 unrecovered cases in Simcoe County.
