Two more residents have been added to the count of those infected with COVID-19 at Simcoe Manor.
The Beeton long-term care facility has been in outbreak since Oct. 2. All 126 residents were tested on Oct. 2, and all 171 staff were tested on Oct. 5.
As of Wednesday, 26 residents and seven staff have tested positive for COVID-19. Three residents have died, including an 88-year-old man, a 92-year-old woman and a 98-year-old man.
“We’re hopeful we’ve now peaked and will now be more stable in terms of our outbreak status,” said Jane Sinclair, general manager of health and emergency services at the County of Simcoe.
Of the 26 resident cases, 18 are asymptomatic.
The cause of transmission has not yet been determined.
Of the 126 residents who were tested, Sinclair said about 90 of the tests have come back negative with about four tests still pending.
She was not able to provide numbers on Wednesday on how many staff tests were still being processed, or have come back negative.
In regards to future testing to determine if COVID is still spreading in the home, Sinclair said the home would be continuing with mandatory testing for all staff every two weeks.
“We’re working closely with the health unit to determine future testing needs for our residents,” she said. “If any resident develops any sign or symptom we will automatically test them at that time immediately.”
