In the wake of troubled and concerned global events, I find it important to mention and honour the selfless sacrifices veterans have made all over the world.

My name is Tamsila Ahmed, I am 10 years old and I am a proud resident of the Town of Innisfil.

With tensions high, as innocent people are killed all over the world, it is needed, more than ever, to be said out loud, that we are fortunate to live free.

It is due to all those men and women who put aside their family, comfort and peace of mind, just to serve their country, nation and most of all humanity. They put their life and future on hold and put their country first.

I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart, for knowing the difference between right and wrong, for knowing the value of human life, and for having the courage to stand up and fight for those who were weak.

I stand tall with pride and freedom because of their bravery, for their sacrifice is impossible to replace, and their honour will, now and forever, remain as strong as their resolve.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
