The following is in response to 'LETTER: Increase income instead of cutting services,' published Sept. 24.

Replying to Konrad Brenner's remarks that people here are more concerned with services than they are taxes...

Excuse me, sir, but people here are very concerned about taxes!

I moved from a three-bedroom bungalow, with a completely finished basement with fireplace and a wet bar, and I pay more in my two-bedroom, two-bathroom and a den condo than I did in my detached bungalow. And my condo is not on the water!

Higher taxes we do not need! Maybe you can pay more, but many cannot, and our mayor knows that.

Maybe trying to streamline some of the services would be a better start than just increasing people’s taxes.
