A bail hearing will be held Tuesday for the Barrie woman charged with three counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm in connection with a Dec. 1 collision which seriously injured three people in front of Sadlon Arena, at Mapleview and Bayview drives.

Cassie Korzenko, 32, is scheduled for an in-person bail hearing on Dec. 20 at 9 a.m. at the Barrie courthouse.

She made an appearance by video today from Central North Correctional Centre (CNCC) in Penetanguishene.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., Dec. 1, Barrie police were called to the corner of Mapleview and Bayview for a serious collision involving pedestrians struck by a vehicle. Police say the three people were hit by a vehicle travelling south on Bayview. The vehicle then collided with two other vehicles, whose occupants were uninjured.

Korzenko was arrested at the scene and taken to local hospital. She has remained in custody since her arrest.

Two of the pedestrians were airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre, one of whom suffered serious and potentially life-threatening injuries. The third pedestrian was transported to a local hospital and was also later flown to a Toronto hospital.

Empower Simcoe, which provides services to people with physical and intellectual disabilities, has confirmed that one of the victims was a worker with the organization and the two others were athletes who have been involved with Special Olympics.

The victims are a 52-year-old female staff member and two male clients, aged 53 and 44. They were heading to a Barrie Colts game at the arena when the crash happened.
