Charity encouraging donations to county’s most vulnerable with weekly raffles

Weekly draws taking place every Sunday until Dec. 12

The Great Canadian Gift Box charity is ramping up its holiday campaign of collecting 1,000 Ziploc bags of toiletries for the homeless by hosting weekly raffles of donated prizes.

The bags will be distributed at various organizations throughout the county including the Busby Centre, Bradford LOFT House, The Lighthouse. 

A list of some of the items that can be put in the bags include:

  • Chapstick
  • Baby wipes
  • First Aid Kit
  • Tampons
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Hand cream
  • Condoms
  • Hat
  • Underwear
  • Blanket
  • Socks
  • Can Opener
  • Rubber bands
  • Batteries
  • Garbage bags

Every Sunday until Dec.12, the charity will be drawing names live on Facebook for some donated prizes for those who have donated to their campaign. 

To enter is simple: 

Take a selfie dropping off your bag full of toiletry items at one of the drop-off locations throughout Simcoe County, then send it to The Great Canadian Gift Box on Facebook or Instagram to have your name added to the draw. 

Prizes have been generously donated by The Soaring Quill, Custom Gifts by Corina Janel (a local artist), and Core Evolution.  

Donations can drop be dropped off at:  

  • Hacienda Santa Teresa in Bradford
  • Barrie Ford in Barrie
  • DS2 Tattoos and Piercings in Stroud
  • Gino’s Pizza in Bradford
