Clucking good food: Wing'n It serving burgers, ribs and wings

Alcona franchise opened in September; it's part of a chain that has spread across Canada after its founding on the East Coast

Wing’n It may be a new family restaurant/sports bar in Alcona, but married couple Ashley and Scott Knack, who own and operate the establishment, have deep roots in the community.

“We are a hard-working family, with Scott running his family business, Alcona Esso, and my recent decision to open a local family-based restaurant right next door,” Ashley said.

“Our children (ages 17 and 20) both attend school here and have worked in various positions, learning both retail, trades and business.”

When asked why the Knacks decided to open a restaurant in Innisfil, Ashley said it was an easy decision.

“Knowing most of our locals already, we felt the restaurant was a no-brainer," she said. "It’s an opportunity to serve our local friends and customers with the same quality and top service they have known for years.”

On Nov. 25, families and community members gathered at Wing’n It to not only have a beverage and enjoy the restaurant’s extensive menu — which includes (but is not limited to) burgers, wraps, sandwiches, ribs, and of course, chicken wings — but listen to local musician, Kyle Wauchope, and help Wing’n It kick off their holiday food drive in support of the Innisfil Food Bank.

Open since mid-September, Ashely told InnisfilToday that it's a Canadian franchise that quickly spread after it originated on the East Coast. She and Scott hire local community members to join their staff.

Innisfil resident and Wing’n It regular, Jay Foxton, said, “I really enjoy coming here. I always get their chicken wings and a nice, cold beer. The staff are so nice.”

“We’re very proud of our staff, both out front and behind the scenes, cooking where the real action happens,” Ashley said.

Readers can follow Wing'n It on Facebook and Instagram. The Alcona franchise is located at 1070 Innisfil Beach Rd. Order take-out from the restaurant's website or delivery from What's for Dinner Today
