Construction work along Big Bay Point Road in Barrie's south end has been extended by three days "due to unforeseen circumstances."

This pushes any potential traffic delays until at least the end of next week.

Green Infrastructure Partners (GIP), along with its sub-contractors and in partnership with the City of Barrie, have been implementing daily single-lane closures on Big Bay Point Road, from the 20th Sideroad to The Queensway near the Barrie-Innisfil city limits, since Sept. 18.

The closures are in effect between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., until Friday, Oct. 6, the city announced on Tuesday.

The construction work is part of the city's road resurfacing program.
