Village Media is pleased to welcome Kristen Brownell to the team as the community editor of InnisfilToday.

Originally from Newmarket, Brownell spent most of her life in Barrie. Graduating from high school in 2002, she went on to pursue her passion for journalism at the Humber College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning.

Brownell began her career as a general news reporter for the Hanover Post and then worked as a sports reporter for the Lindsay Daily Post, before making the move to broadcast media.

During her time working in television, she has covered a wide variety of local, national and international news stories as a writer, producer and reporter, most recently working for CTV Bell Media.

The love and passion she has for her community is what led Brownell back to her roots in local news.

“I couldn’t be more excited to tell the stories that truly matter to the people of south Simcoe,” said Kristen. “It is a privilege to be back, providing a service to the community I love.”
