At last night’s Town of Innisfil Council Meeting, Council approved a temporary by-law amendment allowing dogs in Innisfil Beach Park at all times, including weekends and statutory holidays.

“With parking currently limited to residents-only in and around Town beaches, we’ve seen an increase of residents and their families—including their dogs—using Innisfil Beach Park,” said Mayor Lynn Dollin. “This temporary amendment to the Parks By-law allows people to bring their furry pal with them when they go out for some fresh air and exercise.”

This amendment is meant to be a temporary measure while parking lots remain restricted to residents-only, or earlier if the prohibition is needed to be put back in place. Dogs must be leashed at all times and are not allowed on designated beach areas or sports fields while at Innisfil Beach Park. Residents are urged to support this new measure by picking up after their pets, and respecting public spaces and their neighbours.

Prior to the Parks By-law amendment, dogs were not allowed at Innisfil Beach Park on weekends and statutory holidays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. from the Friday preceding Victoria Day to the Tuesday following Thanksgiving Day.
