No one was injured in an early morning encampment fire in Barrie on April 4, 2024.

No injuries are being reported following an early morning encampment fire in Barrie.

Barrie Fire and Emergency Services got a call around 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 4 of a fire in the area of Victoria and Anne Street, not far from Dyments Pond Park, confirmed deputy fire chief Carrie Clark.

Upon arrival, crews found a small camper on fire.

“There were a lot of combustibles both in and around the camper that were also involved,” she said, “We extinguished it very quickly and then made sure that no one was inside.”

The person that normally stays in the camper had been staying elsewhere that night, so was uninjured, Clark said.

Due to the intensity of the fire, Clark noted the origin and cause of the fire is undetermined.

“There’s so much consumption and damage in the area that we are not able to determine (the cause),” she said.
