It may feel more like spring outside, but winter celebrations are underway across South Simcoe this weekend.
From a jam-packed day of family activities at Innisfil Town Square and the Innisfil ideaLAB and Library to free skating with a local MPP, there are plenty of cost-effective options for social butterflies in the coming days.
Here’s what’s planned in Bradford and Innisfil on Saturday and Sunday:
Winter Weekends returns
Don’t miss entertainment for the whole family at Winter Fun Day at Innisfil Town Square and the Innisfil ideaLAB and Library’s Lakeshore branch on Saturday, Feb. 10. Bring a non-perishable food donation and receive a free toque or mittens (while quantities last). Skate rentals are available at town square, as long as photo identification (ID) is provided. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and it includes ice sculpture ring toss, food trucks, free maple taffy, a disc jockey (DJ), skate show, magic, balloon twisting, face painting, story time, a scavenger hunt and green screening. Community Access Networking (CAN) in Bradford
Ward 3 residents are invited to learn more about town services and share ideas with Mayor James Leduc, Deputy Mayor Raj Sandhu and Coun. Ben Verkaik. at Fire Station 1, 75 Melbourne Dr., Feb. 10 at 10 a.m. CAN is an initiative established by council, providing residents the opportunity to raise issues in a relaxed, friendly and informal environment. Although the events have been designed to highlight one ward per meeting, all residents are welcome to attend any date of their choosing. Skate with Caroline Mulroney
Join York-Simcoe MPP Caroline Mulroney for skating, hot dogs, hot chocolate and giveaways at the BWG Leisure Centre (471 West Park Ave.) Feb. 10 from noon to 2 p.m. There is no cost to attend this event. Free swimming, yoga at YMCA
As part of Winter Weekends, the Innisfil YMCA is hosting a free open swim session for Innisfil residents Feb. 10, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Children must be accompanied by an adult. The following day (Sunday, Feb. 11), residents 13 and older are invited to drop by the Y for complimentary yoga from 11 a.m. to noon. The Y is in the Innisfil Recreational Complex (7315 Yonge St.). Cookstown Community Dance
Join the Cookstown and District Chamber of Commerce for a dance at the curling club (18 Church St.) Feb. 10, starting at 8 p.m. There will be a cash bar, food, prizes, a DJ and silent auction. Tickets are $15 each or $25 for a pair. Get more details on the chamber at cookstownchamber.ca.
